Goodbye Sailor

Rex Ray monoprint

Like a jolt of electricity came the news this morning – David Bowie, dead.

First Rex Ray, now David Bowie!? C’mon science and medicine!! Cancer totally blows. Fuck!

The fountain of beautiful imagery, the brilliant ideas – now gone.
One carries on, I suppose, but the world feels an alien place now.

The act of remembering where one was, what one was doing on learning of the death of Elvis (and others) provides comfort, and a way of dealing. Yet, I hope to forget this day, this hour of blackened knowledge, a hideous blot on the face of Creativity itself.

Long may Bowie live in the hearts and minds of all the young dudes and dames.
